Are you wondering what ESP on a rangefinder is?
Let’s find out.
What is ESP on a Rangefinder?
E.S.P on a rangefinder means Extreme Speed Precision. E.S.P on your rangefinder means that it has extremely fast acquisition and an incredible 1/2-yard accuracy.
- 1/10 precision from 5–125 yards
- +/- 1-yard Accuracy from 126–1300 yards.
Bushnell Rangefinders introduced this in their Pro X2 Model.
Bushnell Pro X2 GPS Rangefinder
With its digital technology and turbo processing, your Bushnell Pro X2 offers accurate distance measurements up to 1300 yards/ 1189 m. It features dual display technology for easy viewing.
With its dimensions of 1.5 x 4.0 x 3.0 inches, the 8-oz Pro X2 with 2nd Generation ESP has a weight of 8 ounces.
The Pro X2 has PinSeeker technology with the JOLT feature, which allows golfers to zero in on the flag without having to acquire any background targets. It also has superb optical quality.
How the Digital Technology Works?
- The Pro X2 produces invisible, safe, infrared light pulses.
- The Pro X2 advanced digital microprocessor and ASIC chip provide instant and accurate readings every single moment.
- Sophisticated digital technologies instantly calculate the distance by measuring the time it takes for each pulse to reach its destination, and return.
Ranging Accuracy
Under normal conditions, the ranging accuracy of the ProX2 is plus or minus 1 yard/meter.
Maximum Range
The maximum range of an instrument varies depending on its reflectivity. For most objects, the maximum range is 1000 yds/914 meters; for highly reflective objects, the maximum range is 1300 yds/1189 meters.
Note: Depending on the reflective properties of a particular target and the environmental circumstances at the moment the distance of an object was being recorded, you may receive either longer or shorter maximum distances.
Color
All these factors influence the color, texture, size, and shape, which affects its reflectivity and range. The brighter the color of an object, the longer its range.
Black is the least reflective color, so it has the shortest range. Red is highly reflective, so it has a long range.
Finish
A shiny finish gives more range than a dull finish.
Target
It’s easier to hit a smaller object than a bigger one.
Angle
The degree of tilt to the direction of travel affects the length of the beam. A steeper tilt results in longer beams than a shallower one.
Lighting Conditions
Additionally, environmental factors (e.g. weather conditions) will affect the ranging capability of the device. The less light (i.e. overcast skies), the further the device’s maximum distance will be. Conversely, bright sunshine will shorten the device’s maximum distance.
E.S.P
Our new E.S.P.-2 rangefinder provides the fastest, most precise distance measurements based on environmental factors.
Measurements
The laser analyzes several individual measurements of the targeted area and then calculates and shows the best possible result.
Target Variation
Laser measurements vary depending on the target object’s condition (reflectance, shape, and colors), but E.S. P. 2 automatically adjusts the settings for optimal results at distances ranging from 5–125 feet.
If this happens, the accuracy of the rangefinder will be improved by one-tenth of a yard.
If you want to display distance in full yards or meters instead of decimal fractions, you can disable E.S.P 2 in the Setup menu.
Slope-Switch Technology
Slope Switch technology enables golfers to easily switch between compensating for slope and non-compensating for slope. This allows them to use their Slope function when they wish to compensate for slope and use their non-Slope function when they don’t wish to compensate for the slope.
Display Indicators
Pro X2 has an illuminated backlit keyboard, which includes the following indicator:
- PinSeeker™ Indicator (1)
- Aiming Reticle (2)
- Battery Life Indicator (3)
- Active Laser (4)
- Distance Displayed in Yards/Meters
Display Brightness (V.D.T.)
The Pro X2 features vivid color technology for improved visibility in low-light conditions. It provides increased contrast, and clarity, and increases the light output so that distances can be clearly seen in dimly lit environments.
How to Change Brightness?
There are four intensity levels to select from and this is the first level within the SETUP menu.
Step 1: Press the “B” logo for three full seconds to enter the setup mode.
Step 2: You’ll see four flashing lights (BRT1, BRT1, BRt2, BRT3).
Step 3: To change the screen’s backlight from BRT1 to BRT4, press the mode button.
Step 4: Press the Mode/Brightness buttons until the desired brightness level is displayed, then press the Power key to set the brightness.
Unit of Measure Options
The Pro X2 measures distances in yards or meters depending on which mode you’re using. The unit of measure indicator is displayed in the lower right corner of the screen.
You can select between two different measurement modes when using the SETUP menu. These are the first and second sets.
Step 1: Turn on the camera by pressing the Mode button (the “B” symbol) and holding it down for three seconds.
Step 2: Pressing the Mode button twice will cycle through the brightness levels if the bright red LED is selected.
Step 3: Hold down the power button for at least 10 seconds until the light goes out. Then select the desired setting by turning the yard/meter selector.
If you’re switching from miles to kilometers, the opposite will happen. The Pro X2 turns back to its last kilometer setting when it’s turned on.
E.S.P.2 ON/OFF
You can enable/disable the E.S.P. 2 reading from a tenth of a yard/meter.
- If ESP 2 is turned off, distances will be measured in whole yards/meters instead of inches/centimeters.
- If ESP 2 is turned on, distances will be shown to one-tenth of a yard/meter.
Cleaning
Clean the lens gently by blowing off any dust or debris using a soft tissue. If there are fingerprints, wipe them off with a soft cloth. Don’t rub too hard; otherwise, you might accidentally damage the lens.
To clean a camera lens properly, use a cotton swab dipped in a solution containing either photographic lens tissue or photographic-type lens cleaner fluid. Never use an aerosol spray.
