Bushnell Ghost Rangefinder – How Does It Work?
A wearable GPS device that tracks your location and sends the data to your phone or computer. You can get directions to any address. This device is lightweight and easy to use.
The Neo Ghost charges using the provided micro-USB cable. It lasts up to 16 hours of GPS time before needing recharging. The rubber USB port covers stay in place while closed.
Neo Ghost uses the iGoFolg course database and can store up to 33,000 golf courses, but it may be worthwhile checking that your course is included in the database before you buy.
At Golfalot HQ we’re based at Swanston which offers both an 18-hole and 9-hole course, and we have tested the GPS here by seeing if it can locate the Templar 9-hole course. Unfortunately, the Neo Ghost didn’t work out too well, because the database doesn’t include any info about the 9-hole course.
The yardages provided were pretty inaccurate when checked with a laser. The Neo Ghost comes in a plastic clip that attaches to your belt or bag easily.
It feels quite sturdy and should fit comfortably on any reasonable bag rim of up to 1 cm easily and will do larger bags, but that could compromise the integrity.

How Did This Rangefinder Perform?
The Bushnell Neo isn’t as accurate as some others. It doesn’t come with many courses, and it doesn’t work well in cloudy weather. Other models are much cheaper and offer more courses.
Is It Worth It?
Golfers should consider buying this product if they play golf less often than once every few months. This product is cheap and easy to use. It works fine and is also very reliable. However, it isn’t as accurate as other products.

How to Use Bushnell Ghost Rangefinder?
First, be sure the battery is fully charged. If you are using your device for the first time, charge it until it reaches 100%. Next, make sure you’re outdoors, in a location that has a clear view of the skies above, to ensure good reception from GPS satellites. Finally, turn on your device and enjoy!
The power button once will turn on the unit. Holding down the power button while turning on the unit will turn off the unit. After powering on, pressing and holding the power button will turn on the backlight.
Once you start up your rangefinder, the main menu appears. You can choose to play golf or settings mode.

Using the Play Golf Mode
To use the Play Golf Mode follow these steps.
- Highlight PLAY GOLF and press SELECT
- Then use the UP/DOWN buttons until you highlight your course from the list of courses nearby.
- Then press SELECT. The display shows LOADING,
- Then press up or down buttons to move forward or backward.
- Press the shoot button when you’re ready to take your shot. Your display shows how far away you are from the target. This is useful to measure the length of the shot.
Play Golf Menu Items
Battery charge % is shown when pressing the SELECT button. Yard/meter settings are shown when highlighting the YARD/METER box. Resume play is available from any screen by pressing the SELECT button.
The courses are listed in alphabetical order. You must choose a different course each time you play. When you exit the round, your score is saved.
Using the Settings Mode
Highlight SETTINGS (If you’re playing golf, press Menu and select Exit Round to get back to the main menu).
- Press Select.
- Select an option from the menu using Up/Down buttons to highlight it, and
- Press Select.
- If multiple options are present, use Up/ Down to highlight your choice, and press Select.
The dot in a checkbox means the current setting is highlighted. To change the setting, highlight another setting and press SELECT. Press the MENU button to go back to the previous menu screen.
Settings Menu Items
Battery charge % is shown when you press SELECT. Yardage/meter settings are shown when you press SELECT, and the dot next to the meter shows the current setting. Auto-off is indicated by the dot next to the OFF box.
Battery Life
The Phantom is a great golf gadget because it has long battery life. It doesn’t need to be plugged in every few holes. It also charges quickly.

Final Thoughts
After using the Bushnell Phantom rangefinder for a few games, we found that it was an invaluable tool. It helped us improve our accuracy by giving us accurate distances at any time. We also used the Bushnell Golf app to get a bird’s eye view of the course.
Using this app allowed us to see hazards better than before, and we were able to find the pins easier. We saw a marked improvement in our scores after using the Phantom.
