How Does ATN Rangefinder Know Which Animal Is Target? – Complete Guide with Tips, FAQs, & More

People often wonder, how does ATN Rangefinder know which animal is targeted?

Let’s find out!

How Does ATN Rangefinder Know Which Animal Is Target?

ATN rangefinders can be attached to your scope when you want to go hunting. When you see through the eyepiece of your rangefinder you can see the dot in the middle of the screen. It may be green or red.

This point is the reticle point that is used for targeting. The position of this dot will determine the target you are hitting. The ATN rangefinder also has this reticle point that determines your target.

How Do Laser Range Finders Work?

There are lots of different types of lasers, but the basic idea is the same: A laser sends out a beam of light to measure the distance to something. This allows you to see things that are far away.

A scope with an integrated laser rangefinder (LRH) is a great tool for hunting. You can use it to measure distances and set up shots quickly. However, if you’re using a rifle with iron sights, you’ll need to manually adjust the elevation of the barrel to compensate for the LRH.

This may be a problem if you’re shooting at long ranges or if you’re prone. On the other hand, if you’re shooting from a bench rest or bipod, you won’t have to worry about adjusting the elevation.

Simplicity

A single piece of equipment is easier and more convenient to use than two different pieces. Having a single piece of equipment means you won’t need to carry two separate items around.

This makes your life much simpler. Also, if the laser rangefinder is in the scope, then it stays attached to the rifle instead of having to be carried separately.

Size Weight

Combining LRFs with scoping rifles makes them heavier and bulkier. A scope adds weight to a rifle, but it also makes the gun easier to handle when shooting from a standing position or while walking.

Cost

These high-tech optics come at a cost. You get two devices, but in some cases, it might be worth paying extra for the convenience.

Option Availability

Since the LRF scopes come as a package deal, you can’t customize them. You can’t change the brand or model of your LRF system.

There are many different types of scopes available, but the LRF systems in each type are not interchangeable. So if you want to use a particular brand of scope, you need to buy the same brand of LRF system.

Now that we’ve gone through all the ups and downs of these new technologies, let’s check out some of the top range finding riflescopes.

ATN XSight II HD

The ATN X-SIGHT II HD 5-20 has a very low price tag. However, despite this, it comes with many useful features such as the ability to shoot accurately over long distances.

That’s not all. This rifle scope also comes with a ballistics CPU. This works in conjunction with the laser rangefinder to calculate the angle of your shot and the trajectory of the bullet.

The magnification ranges from 5X to 20X and it uses four AAA batteries.

This rifle scope is a great beginner scope. It is 19 1/2 inches long and weighs 4 pounds. It is made to last by being waterproof and shockproof.

ATN ThorHD

The ATN Thor-HD640 is the most expensive and packed rangefinder optic out there. It offers LRF, thermal detection, video and streaming options. The LRF is very accurate out to 600 yards.

X-Sight 4k has a 3.5-inch eye relief and can mount using 30mm mounting rings. ATN provides two standard rings and one l shaped ring (for X-sight 4k pro only).

The L-shaped ring is for those instances where you need extra eye relief. First, choose your preferred rings and position them onto your rail for optimal eye relief. Then place the bottom portions of your mounts onto your rails, ensuring you have enough eye relief for your rifle.

Next, place the top portion of your mount over the bottom portion, making sure the holes line up and the screws turn easily with the included Allen wrench.

Ensure your rings are tight on the rails and won’t come loose due to recoil, then tighten the screws evenly with the supplied Allen wrench.
