Nikon has launched its new rangefinder. Do you want to know what it’s called?
Let’s look into it.
What is the New Nikon Rangefinder Called?
Nikon came out with its new rangefinder known as Nikon COOLSHOT PROII STABILIZED.
Nikon Coolshot Proii Stabilized
Steady, bright optics and fast precise measurements aren’t the only things that make the Nikon COOLSHOT PRO II STABLE laser rangefinder so appealing. Its small form factor makes it easy to carry everywhere.
Setup & Ease of Use
Insert the included CR 2 battery into the camera body and turn it on. It’s ready to use right away.
Golf Mode
The rangefinder comes preset in golf mode with distances in meters. If you’ve ever operated a rangefinder before, the interface is easy to use.
The lens closest to your eye and underneath your index fingers right adjusts the focal point. Turning the dial allows you to change the focal point.
MODE Button
To change the setting, press the MODE button.
Measurement Modes
Press the mode button to switch between four different measurement modes.
- Golf mode with actual and adjusted distances
- actual distance mode
- actual distance plus altitude mode
- horizontal distance plus height mode.
The latter two modes may be great if you’re an elite golfer or caddy who prefers raw data.
Additional Modes
To access these additional functions, press and hold the Mode button for three seconds. Then, toggle between them using the Power button.
- F1 gives you the option to adjust the brightness of the display.
- F2 changes units from yards to meters.
- F3 switches the new audible flag lock confirmation on or off.
Accuracy & Performance
Stabilization
The true stand-out feature of the Nikon Coolshot Pro II Stabilized is its namesake stabilization. Even with shaky hands or blustering winds, the image stabilizes immediately. It’s amazing to see if you have the range finder in your eyes when you turn it on.
HYPER READ Technology
Also impressive is the speed of the measurement. Nikon calls it HYPER READ technology that clocks in at 0.3 seconds.
Optics
As you’d expect from Nikon, the optical quality is excellent. The lens is slightly soft at f/2 and f/4 but there’s no need to be concerned.
Magnification
With six times magnification and a wide viewing angle, zeroing in on your target is easy.
Graphics
The images are clearly displayed in red, making them easy to see.
Accuracy
Nikon states the accuracy inside 700 yards is +/- 0.75 yards, and these measurements are nearly identical to those of other top-quality rangefinders.
Display
The Nikon Coolshot Pro II uses a blinking green LED on the front left side of the camera body to indicate when the camera is set up correctly.
Value
At around $450, the Nikon COOLSHOT PROII STABILIZED is well positioned in the field of high-quality slope rangefinders.
With its stabilization feature plus unbeatable optics, this camera should be at the top of any photographer’s wishlist.
Warranty and Waterproof
It’s also worth noting that the device comes with a five-year guarantee in addition to its ability to be fog-proof and water-resistant.

Slope Adjustment
To turn on ID (Incline/Decline) Mode, press the button on top of the grip. Then, hold down the button until the indicator lights up. Once the indicator has turned green, release the button.
Dual LOCKED ON QUAKE Technology
Targeting the pin means using dual locked on Quake flagstick technology which provides a visual clue plus a gentle vibration to tell you when you’ve measured the pin, not a nearby tree or other objects.
Mounting Magnet
It’s small enough to fit into your pockets but big enough to measure distances up to 300 yards.
But Nikon didn’t give up on the ease of use. You want the game to move forward, so they included a magnetic mount.
It’s ready whenever you want it and out of the picture when you’re not using it. Just stick it to your shopping cart or bag and move on to the next thing.
Optical Excellence
Nikon has been a leading manufacturer of optical equipment for more than one hundred years.
The COOLSHOT 50i displays are wide and bright, with multiple layer coatings that provide six times magnification and long eye relief, an advantage when wearing glasses or sunglasses.
A clear and easy-to-read OLED screen displays the distance to the target.
Continuous Measurement Mode
Press and release the power button to see the distance between objects in real-time up to eight times per second. You can know the exact distance of obstacles, such as tree trunks, ponds, and sand traps.
Rainproof
It doesn’t really matter if there’s a little bit of precipitation; the Coolshot 50i will perform just fine.
Target-Confirming Technology
Each model has its unique proprietary technology that allows for locking in on the target and providing an audible and visual confirmation.
Highly Accurate
This rangefinder has an accuracy of approximately one yard.
Tournament Legal
Nikon and Bushnell’s rangefinders offer competition-approved settings with an indicator showing that the sloping feature has been turned off.
Slope Indicator
The COOLSHOT 50i has an actual distance indicator (ADI) LED which indicates when the slope is off.
Optical Excellence
Nikon cameras are known for their high-quality designs and outstanding features. They’re designed to improve every aspect of your photography from visual to precision and accuracy.
Warranty Length
The Nikon Coolshot 50i has a five-year warranty, which is among the best in the industry for digital cameras.
Accuracy
Nikon reports ±1 meter per yard (m/yd) and ±2
Conclusion
Compact and lightweight, this camera is perfect for people who want to take pictures when they’re walking or hiking. It has an easy-to-use interface and is small enough to fit into a pocket.
Like its predecessors, the PRO II may not look quite as fancy as some other models, but my years of experience with the original have shown that it can withstand the rigors of frequent usage.
It’s hard not to be impressed by the Nikon COOLSHOT PRO II STABLELIZED.
