10×42 Bushnell Legend Ultra HD Monocular Review

For someone who hunts and fishes with only one eye, there aren’t many choices when it comes to hunting and fishing optics.

The Bushnell Legend Ultra HD monocular is a great choice for those looking for an affordable high-quality optic that will perform well in the field. It’s not as big or heavy as some of its competitors but it does have a few drawbacks.

What’s Included

Case

The Bushnell Legend Ultra HD monocular comes with a semi-ridged, padded, oversized case, which is superior to most of the other opticals’ case designs.

The case lid can close with a buckled strap at the front and includes two large belt loops at the back for attaching to a backpack. Inside the case, there are also front and rear covers.

Front Cap

It has a nice snap closure and fits securely. There is also an optional flip cap.

Rear Cap

The rear cap has a light cable attached to it, making it easy to attach and remove without having to worry about losing it.

Cord Lanyard

It also comes with a cord lanyard, but they’re not useful for anything.

Cleaning

You’ll need a small cleaning cloth for wiping down the eyepiece when using an optical microscope.

Focus Wheel

The focus wheel is found at the top of the camera and is very easy to use with just one touch. It focuses the image perfectly with just one touch.

The belt loop is attached by two small screws so it can be removed easily. It is constructed from sturdy metal for secure attachment to any belt.

There is an additional connection point for attaching the monocular to the body harness system.

In-Hand Feel

There are some really nice features of the Bushnell Legends Monocular that most people won’t notice, but which add lots of comfort to the grip for long periods of time.

When taking photos, there’s an important part of the camera where your index fingers rest when holding the camera.

Secondly, there is an angled section just behind the Picatinny rails. While this looks like a piece of the rails, it actually rests on your palm, providing additional comfort and stability when using the gun.

Low Light Performance

The Bushnell Legend Ultra HD Monocular performed quite well during both sunrise and sunset in low-light situations.

This little powerhouse monocular packs a whole bunch of features into a pretty compact package. It’s perfect for guys like me who need something powerful but don’t want to carry too much weight.

Weight

For years we’ve been forced to lug around heavy binocular cases which add unnecessary weight and bulk.

For both hunter and non-hunter alike, these are excellent choices for glasses that won’t cost too much.
