Which Sig Sauer Rangefinders Use Red Led Light? – Detail Guide, FAQs, and More

People often ask, which Sig Sauer rangefinders use red led light?

Let’s find out!

Which Sig Sauer Rangefinders Use Red Led Light?

Sig Kilo uses a red LED light. The K-01, K-02, and K-05 use green LED lights. The K-03 is a hybrid of the two with both red and green LEDs.

Ballistic turrets (or quick reticles) have been integrated or can easily be retrofitted into most hunting and sporting optic systems for several decades. These devices allow hunters and shooters to reliably and accurately change their target points at different distances.

Originally, such optical devices were designed for the military, where snipers used them to quickly adjust the scope’s vertical and horizontal position. They also had an additional feature called a “second shooter” who would hold the rifle steady while the sniper adjusted the scope.

In contrast, hunters typically rely on a separate device called a “scope finder” to measure distance. Once they’ve determined the target’s distance, they manually adjust the scope’s elevation until the crosshairs line up with the target.

SIG Sauer has developed an automatic sighting device for the Kilo 1800 BDX. The device calculates the distance, direction, and atmospheric conditions and transmits them to the scope via Bluetooth within seconds. The Aimpoint correction is determined automatically before the shot.

The prerequisite for this is the ballistic data and the ammunition type, which are calculated using a mobile application. The illuminated dot in front of the crosshairs now points to the determined distance and the shooter can shoot without having to adjust his position.

Fast Target System Setup

We zeroed the gun at 100 meters: the setup, as well as programming, is performed via smartphone using the free Sig Sauer BDX app. Afterward, the user needs to change the ammo or make other adjustments.

The ballistic data of various rounds are stored in the app, and they’re updated through regular software upgrades. In order to set the muzzle speed, the user must enter the desired value into the app. However, this can only be achieved on the shooting range.

Otherwise, the bullet drop can be corrected at 200 and 300 meters by adjusting the muzzle speed until it matches the target distance. Obviously, this can only be accomplished on the firing line.

Nothing changes on the actual rifle scopes themselves after the 100m zeroing. After data input, the rangefinders and scopes are linked via Bluetooth. The illuminated crosshair is turned on at the riflescopes, then the Bluetooth LED inside the magnification changer turns on for confirmation.

In the rangefinder’s menu, select “Serial Number” and save it. Then connect both units via Bluetooth. After connecting, the rangefinder should show the serial number of your rifle scope.

Operation and Features

When the top push-button of the SIG Sauer P320 pistol is pushed once, the device turns on and the red target marker appears. A second push causes the measurement. The displayed distance can be set to either feet or meters. The setting is done via the function key on the side.

Only one push is needed. The device also displays the remaining charge level. Due to Bluetooth connectivity, the device consumes additional energy.

If a measurement is made, the SIG Sauer KDX immediately transmits the measured data to the rifle. The correction value is displayed on the reticle scale and can be adjusted via the control panel. In addition, the ballistic computer calculates the ballistic trajectory and displays the results on the screen.

The speed of the scanning process is impressive! It only requires a few milliseconds from the scan until the reticle scale is adjusted. The ballistic computer detects any changes in the target area and adjusts the reticle scale accordingly.

The display brightness automatically adapts to the prevailing lighting situation. Another interesting characteristic of the SIG Sauer KDx electro-optical system is the “KINETIC” indicator. This informs the hunter if the ballistic trajectory is suitable for killing the animal. If the shot is not possible, he must keep his index fingers straight.

According to the manufacturers, distances of up to 1,800 meters (6,000 feet) can be measured under optimum conditions.

We have been unable to test the accuracy of the SIG Sauer Kilogram 1800BDX beyond 1,000 meters (3,280 feet), however, due to the fact that we cannot keep the device steady enough in our hands to detect targets at such great distances.

The range finder is encased in a metal housing, is waterproof, and weighs approximately 220g. The eyecup can be unscrewed for those who wear glasses.

SIG Sauer Sierra3 BDX 4.5-14×44 Riflescope In Interaction

The compact mid-size SIG Sauer Sierra 3 BDX 4.5–14×44 rifle scope measures 12.6 inches (32cm) and weights 24 ounces (681g). In good light condition into twilight, the 44-millimeter (1.7-inch) diameter optical glass provides an excellent view. The images are clear and contrasty, with edges sharpness decreasing at high magnifications.

The BDX-S1 reticles are located in the second image planes. The illuminated reticle control is on the left. The illuminated dot of SIG Sauer’s Sierra 3 BDX 4.5 – 14 x 44 can be dimed in 10 steps. Unfortunately, the illumination is very bright even at the lowest settings.

But this doesn’t affect day hunting, for which this rifle was designed. A digital leveling system is integrated into the optics. It is displayed on both sides of the riflescope.

The SIG Sauer BDX rifle uses an optical sight separate from the laser sighting unit. It allows for a lighter weapon without sacrificing accuracy. However, if you’re going out alone, you may need someone else to help you measure distances.
