Why Halo Rangefinder Kills Batteries – Reasons, Solutions, FAQs, and More

People often ask, why Halo rangefinder kills batteries?

Let’s find out!

Why Halo Rangefinder Kills Batteries?

The Halo has a very low power consumption (about 1/10th of a AAA cell), which means you can run it on AA cells without much problem.

However, if you are using rechargeable NiMH cells, then you will need to be careful how you charge them. You should never leave your batteries charging unattended because this could cause damage to the battery.

Also, make sure that you fully discharge the battery before recharging it. This will help prevent over-discharge problems.

Halo XRT6 Laser Rangefinder Review

The Halo XRT 6 is a handheld, long-range precision measuring device that can be used indoors or out. Its built-in GPS locator makes it easy to pinpoint its location on a map. It has a high-sensitivity receiver, which allows it to detect objects from as far away as 300 feet.

It’s perfect for hunting or any other applications where you need accurate readings in tough conditions

It comes with a carrying bag, so you won’t lose it if you aren’t using it.

  • Accurate and easy to use
  • Crisp, clean image
  • Excellent 6X magnification
  • Scan mode takes 20 seconds to activate
  • No auto-focus
  • Uses CR–2 battery

Range

The Halo XRT 6 can reach out as far away as 600 meters (1,970 feet) and obtain a range on an illuminated reflective surface. However, this number is reached under optimal conditions, and real-life situations may reduce this. In fact, they often do.

This rangefinder’s precision is to within plus or minus one yard, both in its specification and in reality. We’ve tested its precision up to 300 yards by comparing it to a measuring tape and found that it was accurate to within a yard. It’s a budget range finder, so it’s quite impressive that it maintains an error rate of less than 1 yard.

The Halo XRT 6 has a scan mode that continuously scans the environment. However, it requires about 20 seconds for the unit to start scanning, and then it will only scan for an additional 20 seconds before shutting off. The scan mode works fine otherwise, quickly updating distance measurements as you move around the terrain.

Easy To Use

With its two-way scanning function, this laser rangefinder allows you to select your scan mode and initiate the laser measuring. It has an optical zoom of six times, which means you can see your terrain or target from far away.

The LCD display on Halo XRT6 is clear and bright, even when the screen is dark. It provides an excellent view of your targets and their surroundings, along with easy-to-read information about the range of objects.

Features

The Halo XRT 6 is a fairly simple and easy-to-use rangefinder. Its modes include scan and single shot modes, and it provides an extremely accurate reading of your target. However, one drawback of this device is its inability to compensate for the angle. It’s strictly direct-viewing-angle-based.

It has a neoprene pouch with a belt clip, so you can wear the device on your belt. There is also a convenient strap hole, and the device comes with a wrist strap for easy carrying.

Optics and Focus

The Wildgame Innovators Halo XRT6 Laser Range Finder has very good optics, probably fully multi-coated. It is also clearly nitrogen purged since we’ve used it in damp and incredibly cold temperatures without any fogging. It is also waterproof, so you don’t need to worry about rainfall or splashing ruining your investment.

It’s easy and fast to focus, but not always accurate. To focus on your target, twist the eyecups, which makes it hard to hold the phone one-handed. The focusing ring is also too small for some people, so they struggle to get good results.

How to Switch between Modes in Halo Rangefinder?

There are four modes in the halo laser rangefinder. Identify the “mode” key and press it to cycle through the modes. The modes you will see are:

  • Yards measurement in Normal Distance for Track of View space in yards.
  • Yards measurement in AI Distance for Factual Space in yards & upright direction.
  • Meters measurement in Normal Distance to mark of vision space in meters.
  • Meters measurement in AI Distance for true distance in meters & upright position.

How to Use the Scan Mode of the Halo Rangefinder?

  1. To use the “Scan Mode.”
  2. Press and hold the Power button.
  3. Then you will see ‘scan’ on the screen.
  4. You will then see the measurements changing on the screen while you aim at different targets in scan mode.
  5. Release the power button to stop the Scan mode. This mode can be used in any of the 4 ranging modes.

Halo XL450 rangefinder has proven to be a great device for ranging and targeting distance for targets or animals.

HALO XL450 Laser Hunting Rangefinder Field Test and Accuracy

We tested the Halo XR450 rangefinder in the lab to check the accuracy and optical quality. We found that the optics were clear enough to make accurate measurements. However, we also found that the display was too small to read easily.

Ranging Capabilities

The Halo XL450 field ranging performance is ridiculously good. Our test was focused on small Target placed 300 yards to 700 yards from me. In the low light condition, we were able to consistently give reads to almost 400 yards across a wide canyon at our ranges. In bright light conditions, it gave us accurate reads to 450 yards. It did not provide any distances reading on Target past 450 yards.

Halo XL450 Laser Rangefinder Pros

  • Maximum range up to 450 yards
  • The Angle logic AI technology for angle compensation when correcting for field, elevation, or slope.
  • Up to 6x magnification power
  • Rubber defensive armoring for slip-resistant grip in wet weather
  • The Ultra-silent option as it lacks flipping mirrors encumbering other models
  • Space-saving, lightweight, and monocular handheld design
  • Faster laser processing system than previous generations
  • Designed for bow-hunting, arrow-shooting, and ballistic excursions

Halo XL450 Laser Rangefinder Cons

  • The Non-reflective targets cut down the power of ranging significantly
  • Not ultra-waterproof for drenching in water

Final Thoughts

It has an inbuilt inclinometer which compensates for the difference between the rangefinder and the objective when shooting uphill or downhill. Its consistent accuracy at distances up to 400 yards, and its affordable price tag.
