Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What’s the Maximum Range of the Device?

Uineye says its rangefinder is good up to 1,600 yards and we tested it as close as I could (750yards). It was surprisingly accurate, within ±1 feet, which was amazing.

You’re going to need a lot of practice before you can get good at estimating distances accurately using a laser rangefinder.

How Easy Is the Uineye Laser Rangefinder To Use?

It has two buttons. However, it’s still very user-friendly, so you don’t need to worry about any complicated settings. Its compact design makes it easy to carry around, and its clear and concise screen provides you with the distance, direction, and remaining power.

The rangefinder has an 8x magnification, and I would estimate its effective focal length to be approximately 300′ at 1000 yards. It also comes with a ±4 dioptre adjustment.

What Kind of Battery Do I Need?

A rangefinder that requires CR–2 batteries. However, Uineye doesn’t offer one for you, so be sure to buy your power source at the exact same time.

It offers good power management, and the batteries in my two units have lasted for more than a full calendar month without showing any sign of running out.

What Features Can I Expect From the Uineye Laser Rangefinder?

It’s not just a simple rangefinder; it gives you far more than just distance measurements.

It measures the angle between -90° and 90° degrees with an error margin of 0.35°, which means you can calculate ballistic compensation using the correct formulas if you already understand them. However, it doesn’t automatically calculate these distances for you.

It has an automatic scan function so you don’t need to manually move the laser rangefinder across the object you want to check its dimensions.

How Well Does It Gather Light?

Uineye’s rangefinder has been equipped with multi-coated lenses, which gather light fairly well. However, they could be even better with fully multicoated lenses.

If you’re looking for something that’s useful for taking photos at night, you probably won’t be able to get enough out of this camera.

How Are the Optics and Focus on This Rangefinder?

It has a bright screen and offers a clear, crisp view of whatever you’re viewing. It works well in all kinds of lighting conditions.

It has an autofocus system that is reliable and fast, allowing you to quickly adjust your settings so you can get your subject focused with speed and precision.

How Durable is the Rangefinder?

Uineye has created a solid product, but there isn’t anything special about its design that makes it stand out from the crowd. Its construction is good, however, and the textured grip and lanyard will keep you from dropping it if you fall.

It has a water resistance rating of IPX7 (waterproof) and a fog-proof rating of F1 (fog-free). From testing, it seems to be N2 purged

Conclusion

It’s a decent little range finder at an affordable cost. In the literature, they’re described as “ultra-clear,” which isn’t really lying. Simply put, it performs as well as you can expect for something in its class and better than some.

Accuracy is equal to a laser rangefinder three or more times the cost and operating is easy. It picks up targets better than some of its more costly competitors in most conditions, however, the lack of a backlight LCD may make viewing difficult in low light.
