Vortex Optics originally focused on binoculars, but later expanded into rifle scopes.

Vortex makes high-quality optics at low prices. Their customer service is excellent.

  • Vortex Strike Eagle scopes – The Strike Eagle line is really built for and marketted as a short range AR scope. The Strike eagle was briefly offered in higher magnatude ranges like a 4- 20, but those models were phased out. The Strike Eagle Series is also manufactured in China.
  • The Diamondbacks are the next step up from the Crossfires. All the Diamondbacks are built on a 1″ tube. The Diamondbacks are made in China. The Diamondbacks are aimed at the long range shooter or tactical shooter who wants something more than a basic scope.
  • Vortex Viper scopes – A step up in quality from the Vortex Diamondback series of rifle scopes, the Vortex Viper series was first built on a 1 inch tube with a 3x erector. A 35mm tube scope is built exclusively for long-distance shooting. It’s an f/p model and is also manufactured in Japan.

Most Vortex riflescopes are made in Japan. That doesn’t mean they aren’t American-made. All Vortex products are designed by Americans.

While scopes manufactured in China may not be as high-quality as those made in the US, they’re still pretty good. Optical companies based in China and other countries have significantly improved the quality of their optics over the years. Scopes from China aren’t going to provide the same quality as those made in the USA, but they won’t cost nearly as much either.
