Nightforce NXS Compact Instruction manual warning! Do not look directly at the Sun or other extremely bright light through the riflescope, otherwise, you may suffer permanent eye damage or blindness.
Focusing the Reticle
Reticles are used to help aim. They shouldn’t be used to adjust for parallax.
Adjustment should be done using the steps outlined for your rifle scope. Best results are usually obtained by focusing the eyepiece inward and moving it outward until the reticle is blurred. Then adjust the eyepiece until the reticle is sharply focused.

Reticle Focus Adjustment
When you’re ready to shoot, grab the rifle scope with both hands. Turn the barrel slightly to the left, and tighten the locking ring until it makes solid contact with the scope. Then turn the scope to the right until you see a clear image of the target.
Checking for and removing parallax
Parallax is when the reticle appears to move even though you’re holding the weapon steady. You can fix this by adjusting the parallax adjustment.
This scope comes with an approximate yardage/meter marking.

Elevation and Windage Values
A scope adjustment is an angular measurement of how far the rifle scope moves when you adjust the windage or elevation. For example, if you set the windage at -2 clicks, then the rifle scope will be moved by 2 inches.
Figure 3 shows the different types of scopes and how they work.
MOA is an abbreviation for Minute Of Angle. A minute of angle is equal to 1/60th of a degree. This means that an MOA is 1/60th of 1 inch. At 100 yards, this equals 1.047 inches. MOA is used as a measure of accuracy.
Reticle Illumination Analog
Reticles can be illuminated in several ways. A simple on/off switch is available. This provides a convenient way to turn the reticle on or off without having to adjust the brightness. Nightforce also offers an easy way to illuminate the reticle using a button on the scope body.
This allows you to quickly change the brightness level of the reticle.
Finally, there is a third option for illuminating the reticle. The reticle can be illuminated using a built-in LED system. This feature allows the user to set the brightness level of the LED system independently of the brightness level of the ambient lighting.

DigIllum Reticle Illumination
Nightforce scopes include DigIllum™ technology, which provides both red and green illumination, as well as night vision capability.
Turning the illumination on and off
Pressing and holding the illumination control will turn on the DigIllum™ illuminated target reticle. To turn it off, press and hold for 1-3 seconds then release.
How to Sight in a Nightforce Scope?
Adjusting illumination intensity brightness
The reticle flashes when the light reaches its minimum or maximum brightness. You can adjust the brightness by pressing and releasing the illumination button.
Selecting the reticle color
The DigIllum™ illuminated Reticle allows the user to select between red or green reticles. Pressing the illumination control for about 5 seconds changes the color from red to green or vice versa.
Entering night vision compatibility mode
Night vision compatible settings are not available to the naked eye. You must use a night vision device to view them. To access these settings, press and hold the illumination button for 8 seconds, then release.
Exiting night vision compatibility mode
Pressing the illumination control for eight-second then releasing it, the illumination returns to the last used intensity. Nightforce NXS compact instruction manual.

Battery Replacement
You should replace your batteries every three months. Your battery life depends on how much light you’re using, but if you’re using the minimum amount of light, you’ll get about 300 hours of use. For more information, see our Battery Replacement Guide.
Ring and Base Selection
Your riflescopes should be mounted correctly. You must follow these steps when you mount your riflescopes.
We recommend Nightforce bases, Rings, and one-piece mounts. Use this guide to choose the right mount for you.
We do not recommend the use of turn-in-style rings and bases because they are incompatible with our firearms. Please choose another brand of ammunition if you want to use this type of ammunition.
Mount Installation
Nightforce does not recommend lapping any of their rings. This could cause damage to your scope.
Attaching the Base to the Action
Once you’ve installed the base to the action correctly, torque the mounting screws to the correct specification.
Attaching Rings to Base
Cleaning the inside of the rings first, then cleaning the outside of the scope tubes before installing them in the rings. Install rings on the base per manufacturer’s specifications using the correct torque on the locking mechanism, avoiding placing rings where they will make direct contact with the adjustment assembly or the objective bell section. Apply forward pressure to tighten rings in place to keep the screwdriver on the ring in firm direct contact with the forward surface inside the cross slot. Lapping rings is optional, but recommended if needed.
WARNING! Eyepiece impact with the gun can cause serious injury or even death. Be sure you have enough eye relief when shooting.
Mounting the Riflescope
For initial fitting of the rifle’s scope to the rifle, set it to the highest magnification. Put the riflescope in the lower portion of the rings, as far forward as possible, install both ring tops. Tightening ring top screws with just sufficient tension to hold the rifle’s scope were positioned, while still permitting smooth movement fore and aft, and rotationally.
You should always adjust your night vision goggles before going out into the field. Nightvision goggles are very sensitive to light, especially when you first put them on. Adjusting the eye relief will help prevent headaches and other problems caused by too much light entering your eyes.
Levelling the Reticle
For precision shooting, the reticles and rifles need to be aligned. A plumb line can be used to confirm this alignment.
Aiming a rifle requires leveling the weapon. Leveling the rifle involves using a plumb line or similar device to make sure the barrel is perpendicular to the ground. You should aim at a target 100 yards away.
Center the reticle on the target and rotate the riflescopes in the rings until the horizontal line of the reticle lines up with the centerline of the target. Tighten all ring top screws evenly and torque them to the recommended torque settings, rechecking the rifle and reticle before tightening each screw.
Establishing a Sightin Zero
Boresighting is a very important step in shooting a rifle. To do this, you need to align the scope with the barrel of the gun. You also need to make sure that the scope is aligned with the crosshairs. When you are boresighting, you should use a high contrast target. High contrast targets are easy to see because there is a lot of black and white in them. You should use a target that is about 5-6 inches in diameter.
The rifle should be unloaded and the chamber empty. Place the rifle on a steady rest. Look through the bore from the muzzle end. Center the target downrange so that its floats in the middle of the bore. Adjust the elevation and windage settings until the target is centered in the bore while the target is still floating in the middle of the barrel.
Boresight should be done at 25 yards/meters. You must adjust 4 times more than you would at 100 yards/meters. If you miss the first time, go back to 25 yards/meters and make another adjustment. If you miss again, go back to 50 yards/meters and do another adjustment. If you still miss, then go back to 100 yards/meters and adjust again.
This is how you make a perfect bullseye. First, you need to adjust the windage and elevation settings. Then, you fire a few shots at the target. After that, you fine-tune your settings until you get a perfect bullseye on the target.
Zeroing Adjustments
A rifle scope with zero stop adjustments must be zeroed before use. This is done by removing the dust cap and setting the number scale to zero. Then, the user resets the number scale to zero by turning the adjustment knob clockwise.
Adjustment dials are used to adjust the volume of your car radio or stereo system. Loosen the set screws by turning them counterclockwise. When the dial stops rotating, tighten the set screws.
Hold the dial in place while tightening the set screws. Tighten them to 4 inch-pound using an Allen wrench. If you don’t have an Allen wrench, use your fingers to tighten the set screws.
Replace the dust cap and turn clockwise until it is secured. Nightforce NXS compact instruction manual.
Elevation Adjustments optional
This rifle scope is not waterproof. Waterproofing is done by adding an o-ring around the turret adjustment screws. Greasing the adjustment screws helps them turn smoothly.
This feature is available on some Nightforce scopes. To use it, you must first set the scope to zero using the elevation control. Then, turn the elevation control clockwise until it stops.
Before you install your Nightforce riflescopes, make sure your firearm is unloaded. Repeat step 1. Then, after you’ve installed your Nightforce riflescope, you can now proceed to zero/sighting-in your rifle. Once you’ve determined the ammunition that works best for your intended use, and established the zero/sights-in, follow these steps to set your ZeroStop.
Nightforce doesn’t provide detailed video instructions for setting up the Zero Stop. Instead, they give a brief description of how to use the product.
Conclusion
In end, you must care for your riflescope and clean the riflescope exterior properly including the lenses.
